Good morning sunshine… Lovely to see you again!

10 Jan

After watching a film recently about life, my friend turned to me and asked the rhetorical question; “What WOULD you do, if you knew life was only a few weeks long?”

I replied without hesitation, “That's easy, I would watch the sunrise and sunset everyday!”

When was the last time you watched the sunrise?

In all honesty, I haven't enjoyed a sunrise in such a long time and it something that is truly beautiful, captivating and totally free for everyone to enjoy……so why not!

Next week I am celebrating a birthday and I thought what better way to start the day than taking in the sunrise from Kings Park.

Kings Park is right on the doorstep of the city and the view of the sunlight over the buildings and the river is something is breathtaking at any hour of the day!

Tourists and locals alike enjoy this unique location everyday and it provides a perfect setting and backdrop to mark special occasions.

Having worked in the city, I have been among those who have taken in the views from Kings Park whilst getting some exercise going up and down Jacobs Ladder…… although this is not the most relaxing way to enjoy the scenery!

So next week, my alarm clock will be set, my picnic rug ready and I'm off to soak in the sunrise over our gorgeous city.

Once the infancy of the day is over and my tastebuds wake up, I just know that coffee will call my name and I will find a table for 4 at the Zamia cafe for breakfast…..

With spectacular sunrises, fresh air, coffee and Kings Park available everyday of the year, I won't leave it till my next birthday to enjoy e sunrise at Kings Park!

Happy days in style!

Head to Hatch for West Australian designers

2 Jan

When the event calls for a head-turning outfit and you want to show your support for talent that is right here in WA, take my advice and head to the Carillion Arcade where you'll find Hatch.

I first headed to Hatch around the time of the Perth Fashion Festival 2012 when I had a last minute invitation to an event that called for something West Australian and fabulous!

Sure, I had put all my eggs in Hatch's basket, given that I was shopping 3 hours before the event (and I had never been to the store), but I had faith!!

Breathing a sigh of relief, I found Hatch had done WA designers due justice and the selection of garments was perfect for what I was looking for.

I was happy to find that a collaboration of WA designers finally had a presence in Perth City with the support of The Perth Fashion Festival and The Carillion.

So with an outfit still to be found on this given Friday in 2012, I took Steph Audino, Kim Barton, Zhivago and Ange Lang into the dressing room and was in utter happiness of having the choice of such amazing labels in one confined space!

I had hit the jackpot (thankfully!) and managed to return home in time to pull it all together with accessories -phew!

Hatch has done a fabulous job of bringing West Australian fashion together in one Schmick store!! Hoorah!

Just some of the local creatives that are stocked at Hatch; Ange Lang, Little Gracie, Butcher and the Crow, Catini, Steph Audino, Raspberry & Pop, Zsadar, Zhivago and Danielle Caputi among others. Hatch also stocks accessories by labels such as Sewellery and Generics.

Plan your visit to Hatch soon and you'll enjoy the Smokin' Hot Babes exhibition by Sharma Heylen-Silvia which are available for purchase…… Which smokin' hot babe will you choose?

WA given a serious shot of style in 2012… 2013 set for style explosion!

What a year 2012 was!!

Perth picked up the pace and showed the world what our beautiful city has to offer!

West Australians welcomed hip new bars and restaurants and showcased some of our biggest and best events yet.

With 6 star venues and luxury brand retailers opening their doors, we now have even more reason to embrace and celebrate style.

Every day I find inspiration by so many things here in the West and during the past year I have visited some amazing places, dined on some decadent dishes and fell in love with countless collections from our West Australian designers.

Here, I share a snapshot of some of the ingredients that made WA a place of fun and style during 2012…..

Crown has given us The Merrywell, Rock Pool, Nobu, Bistro Giullaume and accommodation with a world class poolside. This is the place for a complete night out!

Perth Arena of a world class standard and is our hub of exciting times to come!
Shopping has never been so much fun with WA designers opening flagship stores and collaborations of designers coming together at Hatch in the city and Ten @ Times Square in Claremont.
