WA given a serious shot of style in 2012… 2013 set for style explosion!

1 Jan

What a year 2012 was!!

Perth picked up the pace and showed the world what our beautiful city has to offer!

West Australians welcomed hip new bars and restaurants and showcased some of our biggest and best events yet.

With 6 star venues and luxury brand retailers opening their doors, we now have even more reason to embrace and celebrate style.

Every day I find inspiration by so many things here in the West and during the past year I have visited some amazing places, dined on some decadent dishes and fell in love with countless collections from our West Australian designers.

Here, I share a snapshot of some of the ingredients that made WA a place of fun and style during 2012…..

Crown has given us The Merrywell, Rock Pool, Nobu, Bistro Giullaume and accommodation with a world class poolside. This is the place for a complete night out!

Perth Arena of a world class standard and is our hub of exciting times to come!
Shopping has never been so much fun with WA designers opening flagship stores and collaborations of designers coming together at Hatch in the city and Ten @ Times Square in Claremont.
Perth Fashion Week kicks off a year of fabulous WA fashion! Keep the event alive!
Brookfield Place transformed into sophisticated style venue!
STM Front Row at Bistro Felix provided a regular fashion fix for lovers of style!
The most beautiful piece of France comes to King Street… Two of my favourite places collide!
The biggest and best year of the Perth Fashion Festival yet – one glorious of week on Perth to lock in your diary for 2013!!
The Perth Museum hosted this Flannel PFF event – styled by the Editor of Vogue – this was a fairy tale event to attend!
Rochelle Adonis showed off all year with a high tea service worth writing home about and Christmas fanfare so decadent it was sinful! Enjoy…
The Perth Racing Carnival at Ascot is a place where style is everything!
Paspaley Polo in the City – Relaxed summer outing at Langley Park – was a highlight for sure!
I can't wait to see what 2013 has in store and can only imagine what amazing events, fashions, food and style will provide inspiration for us all during the course of the year…
Watch this space for All that is style in WA!

The World of Fashion and Luxury set to meet at Summit in Sydney 2013!

16 Dec

May 16th is the date, The Sydney Opera House is the venue and the list of speakers from the world of luxury and style are yet to be divulged!

Presented by The Australian Financial Review Magazine and curated by renowned fashion editor Marion Hume, this luxury business and fashion summit will draw much international attention to Australia's finest exports.

The Summit will provide a platform for luxury businesses and fashion designers from our region and it is expected that thousands from within the industry will head to the harbour-side city come May 16.

The Australian Financial Review Magazine produces two fashion issues a year and it is very fitting that they host the Summit.

Editor of The Australian Financial Review Magazine, Jeni Porter has provided STYLEWA with some insight into the upcoming event;

STYLEWA – The first of it's kind in the Asia-Pacific region, this luxury business and fashion summit is set to be held at the Sydney Opera House on May 16, 2013. How did the summit come about and how was it decided that the Sydney Opera house play host to the event?

Jeni Porter – The Sydney Opera House is one of the most distinctive buildings on the planet and has seen countless great collaborations in its history – making it a natural fit for the summit and the focus around creative collaboration.

STYLEWA- It seems fitting for The Australian Financial Review Magazine to be presenting this event as style and luxury are displayed from cover to cover! What can people expect from this Summit and why is it important for those involved with the world of fashion and luxury to attend?

Jeni Porter – The event is the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, with an unprecedented line up of global speakers who span the luxury business and fashion world.

Attendees can expect discussion, debate and to gain insight into the speakers and their incredible knowledge.

The Australian Financial Review Magazine produces two fashion issues per year, so we really see this as creating an interactive platform to connect industry, readers, consumers, retailers and beyond.

STYLEWA- Can you tell us a few of the luxury brands and speakers that are set to speak at the Summit?

Jeni Porter – We will make an announcement early in 2013 about speakers.

STYLEWA- How has the market for 'high-end' products and fashion in Australia changed over the last ten years?

Jeni Porter – The appetite for luxury and growth of the industry in Australia over the last number of years has been quite incredible.

In general retail has been quite challenged, but this is not the case at the top end of the market.

There have been brands extending their offering into Australia and opening stand-alone stores, new brands entering the market and expansion across the board, which is showing no signs of slowing down.

In the last year a number of watch brands have opened stand-alone stores, Dior is set to open its first store in the coming months, Louis Vuitton Maison opened in Sydney (one of only 13 worldwide) and openings have been steady in both Brisbane and Perth.

The luxury market as a whole is showing no signs of slowing down.

STYLEWA- With many Australian capital cities now playing host to local and international luxury businesses, it is without a doubt that fashion and luxury is in demand within our region. With big brands, comes big dollars and world-wide attention so it is fantastic that we can expect to hear speakers covering issues and trends in the market – what regions can we expect to hear from?

Jeni Porter – Speakers will be from various parts of the world, with content to be focused around creative collaboration in all its forms.

The brilliance of having a range of speakers is that approach and content will be entirely different – covering trends and issues, whilst also focusing on their impact in the Asia-Pacific region.

STYLEWA- When can delegates expect to register for tickets and how many tickets are on offer?

Jeni Porter – A site is available now to register for updates on the event, ticket sale information will be released early in 2013.

Mandurah’s hosts a sell out Tea Party for the BCNA

27 Aug
Mandurah put on spectacular weather yesterday for the second annual MOM’s tea party which is an event held in support of the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

M on the Point played host to the fundraiser which was a sell out for the second year running. The venue was perfect for an afternoon of style and BCNA Pink lady cut outs were dotted along the waterfront which not only looked stunning but created awareness to people for miles right along the marina.

A high-spirited crowed arrived at the venue, wearing some spectacular fascinators to fit with the ‘mad hatters’ style tea party. The Mums of Mandurah (MOM inc) is a community group established to ‘connect, support, inform, inspire and empower’ and they hold events like this one to raise funds for benefits like the BCNA.

Upon entry we were offered to purchase a pink lady balloon which was an entry ticket to a raffle where some fantastic prizes were up for grabs. Both the raffle and the live auction raised funds for BCNA and the prizes were contributed by local business and artists. Some of the fabulous items included; a dress by George, a handcrafted fascinator by Cher Renea Milliner, a weekender at the Arrunda B&B in Yallingup, a Miglio Designer Jewelery piece and a framed Limited Edition Print by Emma Blyth.

With a room filled with pink balloons and the champagne flowing, the room had a celebratory vibe  which continued throughout the afternoon.
Guests were treated to delectable canapes and wines whilst enjoying a stunning fashion parade put on by Beez Neez Designer Boutique.

The speakers for the afternoon gave their own personal experiences of living with Breast Cancer and with inspirational stories, they reinforced to guests the importance of supporting such a worthwhile charity.
The Breast Cancer Network Australia is the leading national organisation to raise and grant funds for breast cancer research with the aim of achieving prevention and cure of breast cancer. They create awareness in our community and support and inform women and families about breast cancer.
Guests were invited to write a message of hope on a card which they could then hang from one of the pink lady figures dotted around the venue.

The event was a fantastic way to raise awareness for BCNA whilst putting on a fabulous afternoon of glamour and style!!

I was honoured to attend the 2012 MOM’s tea party and would recommend you to buy your tickets early for next year’s event! The tickets will again sell out as this party is proving to be a popular one!
