Friday night just gone I had a date with one of Perth’s newest ‘the’ bars….. The Heritage. Its located 131 St Georges Terrace, Perth and the architects and designers have done a superb job in giving this building a make-over to give The Heritage its ‘old world’ charm.

Immediately you feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you walk up the stairs and into the foyer of The Heritage which is decked out in marble floors and high ceilings. The music playing doesn’t blast you away but is still audible enough to create a vibe with the packed bar. Although our table was ready in the dining room we opted to head downstairs to Bobeche to have a pre-dinner drink….

Bobeche is a 1920’s style bar, tucked down below street level. It’s menu listing classic old world spirit cocktails, tap beer and fine wine along with simply prepared food. It was love at first sight with this quaint venue. Very cute, very unique for Perth and very easy, I would say, to lose an hour or two with some good friends and a cocktail menu!

But we didn’t spend an hour or two…….as we had an 8.30pm dinner reservation upstairs at The Heritage. Love crisp, white table linen set perfectly and attentive wait staff! We were offered drinks as soon as we sat down and didn’t wait long for them, or our meals to arrive.

Our taste bud envy;

Braised venison shank, gremolata, kale, potato mille feuille   39.00

Salade nicoise with tuna 30.00

glass of bubbles & glass of Pernod pre-dinner………  what more could you ask for on a rainy Friday night in Perth!

Oh almost forgot the cheesecake to finish – everything you could expect from a classic!

Devine dining, great service, great company and surroundings…… The Heritage is definitely worth putting in your diary for sometime in the not-to-distant future!

A bit about the Heritage Brasserie, Bar & Boardroom –

After 25 years of ruin, the architecturally iconic Royal Insurance building of 131 St Georges Terrace became home to The Heritage Brasserie Bar & Boardroom on the 24th of May 2012, as part of Brookfield Place. Conceptually designed with the intent to establish and introduce a hospitality offering that is all encompassing from a classic café/restaurant through to late night bar and take away provedore.

The Heritage Brasserie Bar & Boardroom is based upon the grand cafés/restaurants of Europe. Framed by the historic façade and dramatic high ceilings The Heritage Brasserie Bar & Boardroom features pewter bar tops hand made in Paris, crisp white linen and Italian marble floors. The dining room offers early breakfast, an all day a la carte brasserie menu through to late night cocktails. A European dominant wine list will feature, along with tap beer and an open seafood display. Takeaway coffee, wine and other delicatessen items are also available.

The Boardroom at The Heritage is a private dining room that can accommodate up to twenty people. The room is available for corporate functions and meetings as well as intimate celebrations. Offering varying seating options, a plasma TV and full Internet access, The Boardroom at The Heritage is ideally located for your private dining needs.

Lurking in the basement is Bobèche, a deep and moody personality for those wanting a dark and intimate setting to enjoy fine wine, mixed cocktails, diverse liquor offering, tap beer and grazing food menu options.

A bit about Bobeche………………….

Remember when we went down the spiralling stairs through the tunnel in the bottom of the garden and did an Alice in Wonderland?  The wax was dripping as the candlelight flickered. The performer on the side of the street, adorned in yellow with baggy breeches, checkered stockings with a rich coloured red jacket, a straw coloured wig and a hat crowned with a butterfly jousted for our attention.

Cast your imagination to a period of wry wit and mischief where you are enveloped with the impression of being somewhere dark and mysterious. This 20′s style speakeasy offers old world spirit on spirit cocktails, tap beer and fine wine along with simply prepared food. A place where people can go to be away.
