Harry & Gretel @ STM Bistro Felix

7 Dec

STM Front Row @ Bistro Felix is an ongoing collaboration between STM, Bistro Felix Wine Bar and WA’s finest retail outlets. Held on the first Thursday of every month, each edition provides fashion loving friends to get their taste of the hottest looks.

Thursday just gone, I was excited to be heading to Bistro Felix in Subiaco for a night of fashions from local retailer (and a favourite of mine), Harry & Gretel.

With consideration of the 6.30pm start time together with knowledge that the Subi Street Festival was also planned for the area, I left early to ensure I didn't miss a minute of the evening.

Surprisingly, we cruised across the city and won a car bay, not far from the action on Rokeby Road.

After taking in some of the sights and sounds of the Subi Sreet Festival, we headed to Bistro Felix where we were greeted with a glass of Veuve Clicquot and shown to our table. It felt like Christmas with gifts at each place setting – a beautiful Ecoya candle courtesy of Harry & Gretel!

As the parade kicked off, we enjoyed our entree of vegetable terrine and made a note of garments to add to “wish lists” ahead of Christmas.

Chadwick models looked angelic with butterflies in their hair as they strutted gorgeous garments past each table. Labels such as Alice McAll, Poppy Lissiman, Wildfox, House of Harlow and Shakuhachi were on display which I'm sure made guests scramble to find a pen to add items to their list.

The atmosphere within Bistro Felix seemed as if the party from the street had flowed through the doors and resonated among the guests. Tables full of friends and acquaintances celebrated the festivities and enjoyed their mains whilst taking in the second half of the parade.

Slightly edgier, this next parade showed off a fun collection of summer dresses and party attire. As usual, I loved many of the outfits put together and it was interesting to hear Heidi from Harry & Gretel who spoke about her passion for creating an entire look for customer and also the journey that the store has taken since opening.

Heidi told the story of how the store (now Harry & Gretel) once sold only kitchen wares. With a change of hands, Harry & Gretel then incorporated homewares and a small rack of garments which proved a hit with customers. Heidi and Wendy then saw the need to stock a larger range of garments to meet demand as well as accessories and giftware. This is where the Harry & Gretel, as we know it today began and people now head to Leederville certain that they will find something they love at this gorgeous shop.

With succession, Harry & Gretel opened 'Harry Next Door' which stocks homewares and gift lines.

So with the story being told, I was now anticipating a future visit to the store even more to check out all the latest for Summer. But the evening wasn't over- the second half of the parade was as divine as the dessert that we were served. A cute lemon tart with vanilla cream, berry coulis and a touch of gold paint made this sweet dish a winner.

Alexa Coetsee from STM did a beautiful job at hosting the event and she informed us that the next edition of STM Front Row at Bistro Felix is set for February! Don't miss that one as it is definitely a fun filled night of fashion…. and a great excuse to grab your friends for a dinner date!
